Storengy Deutschland awarded contract for commercial dispatching of the Crystal gas storage facility by EnBW and EDF

This strategic move strengthens Storengy Deutschland's position as a third party storage service provider in the German market.
Berlin, 02.04.2024. From 1 August 2024, Storengy Deutschland will be in charge of the commercial dispatching of the Crystal gas storage facility (Lower Saxony) operated by Friedeburger Speicherbetriebsgesellschaft mbH, a joint venture between EnBW Etzel Speicher GmbH and EDF Gas Deutschland GmbH.
Storengy Deutschland was awarded the contract to provide its services for a period of five years following a call for tenders. The service portfolio includes the 24/7 processing of the storage contracts, reporting for the contract invoicing and the drafting of the storage schedule in coordination with the transmission system operators.
With a total of four caverns and a working gas volume of around 350 million standard cubic meters, the Crystal gas storage facility plays a key role in securing energy supply and flexibility in the gas storage market. It is connected to three transmission system operators (TSOs): Gasunie Deutschland Transport Services GmbH, Gasunie Transport Services B.V and Open Grid Europe GmbH (OGE), making Crystal a central hub in the European gas supply network.
In order to meet the new commercial dispatching requirements for Crystal, Storengy will expand its existing IT system, which is used to communicate with market participants and to process storage contracts.
