Our Corporate Social Responsibility

Storengy promotes innovation and the development of new ideas with the help of our employees in order to achieve our sustainability goals. An important part of this is our annual innovation competition, which takes place across all European Storengy companies. We encourage our employees to come up with innovative solutions across countries on areas such as biodiversity, renewable energies and new lines of business and to guide our company towards a sustainable future.

As one of Europe's leading gas storage companies, sustainability and environmental protection are central to our corporate culture. These values determine our actions and are an essential part of our corporate responsibility. In order to fulfil this responsibility, we actively support numerous initiatives in many different areas. 

Biodiversity

Act4Nature International is dedicated to promoting and preserving biodiversity. As a supporter, we have committed ourselves to taking measures to protect nature and to bring our business activities in line with the initiative's goals.
Storengy Deutschland is implementing these measures at its six gas storage sites by promoting biodiversity through local beekeeping, installing insect hotels and partnering with bird and animal protection organisations. These initiatives are an expression of our commitment to protecting nature and preserving biodiversity.

Renewable Energy

We recognise the urgent need to make our energy supply sustainable. That is why we are committed to using renewable energies at our operating sites in order to make an active contribution to reducing CO2 emissions. In addition to the photovoltaic installation on the roof of our operating building in Uelsen, we are also working towards the goal of supplying the Peckensen storage facility with renewable electricity using high-altitude winds and solar energy in combination with a redox flow battery as part of the EU-funded Aquilon pilot project. 

Hydrogen storage

We are in the process of transforming our storage products towards hydrogen. We are investing in the development and deployment of technologies that enable the storage of hydrogen in our newly built and existing storage facilities. As part of this approach, Storengy Deutschland is a member of a wide range of initiatives and supports the decarbonisation of the energy sector with pilot projects such as SaltHy or HyPSTER. 

Safety at work

Safety at work is a top priority at Storengy, which is reflected in the large number of accident-free anniversaries at our storage facilities and administrative sites. We support our teams in permanently reducing health and safety risks and reducing the number of work-related injuries. To achieve these goals, we conduct regular safety exercises, training sessions and workshops on occupational health and safety throughout the Group, and have our occupational health and safety management system certified by TÜV Nord to the globally recognised ISO 45001 standard. The ENGIE ONE SAFETY CULTURE (EOSC) transformation project also promotes a common safety culture at all levels of the organisation. In the coming years, we will work towards meeting the ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 140001 (environmental management system) standards.

Storengy Deutschland has signed the Charta der Vielfalt (Diversity Charter), because diversity is an essential part of our success. The commitment and different perspectives of our employees ensure the success of our company, which we want to share with others. That is why we support cultural, sport and educational institutions in the communities near our storage facilities.
