Social commitment: Storengy donates 25,000 euros to charity
Storengy has donated around EUR 25,000 to social institutions and projects near its natural gas storage facilities throughout Germany. This enables a large number of organisations to be supported in their charitable work.
The restrictions imposed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic meant that last year it was not possible to hold any company celebrations at the storage sites or at the administrative headquarters in Hanover. Instead of saving the annual budget for a later company celebration, the employees decided to use the money for social purposes. The employees therefore took the initiative and independently selected institutions and social projects that they would like to support with their donation. The company bumped up the sum, enabling around 25,000 euros in total to be donated to nine institutions.
“As an internationally active company, local ties at our storage facilities are very important to us. For many years, we’ve been implementing a wide variety of funding measures and thus supporting the valuable work of local social institutions,” says Elena Hetzel, Head of Communications at Storengy Deutschland.
The SOS Children’s Village in Bremen is one of the institutions with which Storengy has a long-standing, trusting partnership. At the heart of its work is the SOS Children’s Village Family, which provides a safe and loving environment for children and young people in need.
Nicky Schumacher, a technician at the Lesum natural gas storage facility who works for Storengy Deutschland Betrieb, visited the SOS Children’s Village and was able to see for himself the association’s contribution to society: “I’m very impressed by the diverse range of services offered by the Children’s Village, which is not only aimed at children and young people, but also holistically addresses the needs of families in need. It makes me feel very positive that we, as a company, are taking responsibility and supporting this charitable institution.”
