Open Season: Storengy market survey confirms high demand for hydrogen storage facilities in Germany
The results are now available.
Storengy Deutschland conducted a market survey from 1 March to 31 March 2024 to determine future hydrogen storage requirements.
The results are now available and enable a more precise understanding of the quantity and quality of storage requirements.
Berlin, 25 June 2024. After conducting a market survey in the period from 1 March to 31 March 2024, Storengy Deutschland GmbH considers its hydrogen storage plans to be confirmed. The survey aimed to gain a more precise understanding of the future hydrogen storage needs of existing and potential new customers.
The lively participation of over 20 contributors provides information on which parameters should be taken into account when planning an H2 storage facility and developing H2 storage products. Many of the announced H2 projects, for which a connection to a hydrogen storage facility will be relevant, are at a high level of maturity and are located in northern Germany. This survey emphasises the urgent need for new underground hydrogen storage facilities in Germany.
"Many thanks to all the companies that took the time to answer our questionnaire. The insights gained make a significant contribution to the further development of our product range and are relevant for the planning of our hydrogen storage facilities and products," says Gregor Wenzel, Head of Sales and Commercial Operations at Storengy Deutschland.
Storengy Deutschland is currently planning the construction of a first hydrogen storage facility in Harsefeld in the Stade area (Lower Saxony) as part of the "SaltHy". With this project, Storengy Deutschland is making an important contribution to the decarbonisation of the energy infrastructure and the H2 market ramp-up.
In the coming weeks, Storengy will contact the participating companies again to discuss the results of the market survey and initiate further steps.
