Storengy’s natural gas storage facility in Peckensen accident-free for over 16 years

Storengy aims for maximum safety as a corporate policy and takes all possible measures to prevent accidents. This approach has been successful: the storage facility in Peckensen has been operating accident-free for over 6,000 days – which is equivalent to over 16 years.

Hildegard StüberQHSE Manager at Storengy Deutschland GmbH, is proud of this achievement and emphasises: “A key element in this achievement is the fact that the entire team at the storage facility takes the issue of occupational safety very seriously. For example, employees are encouraged to contribute their own ideas for improvements. In addition, staff members pay attention not just to their own safety, but to the safety of all others. We also work with experienced contractors.”

The cavern storage facility in Peckensen is located southeast of Salzwedel, in the Altmark region. This H-gas storage facility has five salt caverns with a working gas capacity of 392 million m³. Two new compressor units have increased the injection rate, and the maximum withdrawal rate is 870,000 m³/h. The storage facility has excellent connections to the Steinitz network connection point and the Ontras transport network thanks to two high-capacity connection lines. Peckensen is the largest cavern storage facility operated by Storengy in Germany.
