Technical dispatching: a central control room for natural gas storage companies
Berlin, September 27, 2019. Storengy Deutschland GmbH is the first natural gas storage company in Germany to establish a central control room to remotely operate seven natural gas storage facilities.
The advantages of this concept as well as business opportunities for third parties were explained to customers, partners and industry colleagues at the business lunch of the inauguration of the central control room. Technical dispatching is an essential pillar in storage operations. Natural gas storage facilities are monitored and controlled around the clock, and measures for emergency maintenance are coordinated.
Further more, technical dispatching acts as a “permanent position” in accordance with the mining law and therefore has a central role in emergency management. "We rely on digital technologies and state-of-the-art processes that enable us to optimize operating and maintenance activities and make them as efficient as possible," says Dr. Horst Hirschhausen, managing director of Storengy Deutschland Betrieb GmbH.
In addition to the process control systems, a digital radio system, a digital shift book and the TeBIS tool are used to record the process data. This means that the large distances between dispatching and the storage facilities can be overcome using the latest technology. This ensures that everyone involved has always up-to-date data. “With this innovative concept, we are pioneers in Germany. We improve our own performance and also offer third parties modern operational management, flexibility and improved performance, ”emphasizes Dr. Horst Hirschhausen.
